When things run smoothly, effortlessly and seamlessly, people often think that means that whatever the task, process or action is, it must be simple, easy, anyone can do it.
The opposite is almost certainly the case.
Where is the value?
This is a question that is asked when everything appears to be running smoothly. Why do we need all of these people, costs, processes. Everything is working so well.
Change is usually more noticeable when things go wrong. It is much harder to define the value of inputs when every is going smoothly. Or, when projects, process or systems are being updated. Except, of course when something unexpected occurs.
The perception of value and the expectation of outcome need to be carefully considered and framed in a way that reflects the importance of perfection. And what it takes for perfection to occur.
