I was talking to a friend today who is, on appearances, very sucessful. She runs her own design and import/export business and has built her brand up over the last 5 years. Her products are carried by major retail outlets and she has a strong order book, even in the most difficult of times (April 2020).
She is outgoing, business savvy, intelligent, resourceful and creative. So, why does she feel that she is a failure?
It doesn't matter what I think, or anyone else for that matter, my friend feels she is a failure: emotionally. She believes that her life would be better if she had more money, which would give her more time, less stress. She is worried about paying the bills, keeping up with the complexities of running a business single-handedly.
She feels she should be earning more, her days should be less stressful and hectic. More time to reflect and enjoy life.
So, what to do.
Part of the journey is to uncover one's own special "superpower". The thing that lights you up when you talk about it. The thing you could do all day without getting tired or jaded. The thing that is you.
The process is like pealing back the layers of an onion. The purpose is to enjoy the journey and be completely at peace in the moment.
Once you identify the thing, the next stage of your journey is to uncover your true purpose; and how to translate it into a life choice.
Savour the moment.
Uncover your purpose
3 x 3 methodology.
- Combining identified characteristics.
- Uncover emotional drivers
- Create your future
Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgement will be surer; since to remain constantly at work will cause you to lose power of judgement ...
Go some distance away because the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance, and a lack of harmony or proportion is more readily seen.
